Sardar Sarovar Project has seen spectacular progress during last one and a half decade and the project is now in its advance stage of completion. On one hand, the work of raising the Dam height and installation of gates is completed much ahead of schedule, and on the other hand the progress in implementation of sub-minor canals as Under Ground Pipeline (UGPL) has been phenomenal. This has become possible due to visionary policy decisions taken by our Hon’ble Prime Minister and determination of the state Government to see that the benefits reach the people of the state at the earliest. It is because of this Lifeline, that Gujarat had been very successful in tiding over drought like situations in the recent years, even when many other states were reeling under severe water scarcity.
